For the new McDonald’s at Hadzi Dimitar in Sofia, we were commissioned to implement the Essential Ingredients 2.0 interior décor. Our task was to bring the concept’s key elements into a floor plan that required careful planning, while creating a restaurant that felt cohesive and easy for guests to use.
The open ceiling added another layer to the design. We developed suspended ceiling areas above the different seating zones to give each part of the restaurant definition and keep the exposed ceiling from dominating the space. Hanging lighting rails provided a solution for lighting these areas while working with the open ceiling.
The counter and signage also needed to respond to the restaurant’s retail setting. We adapted the counter area to work both within that setting and as part of a conventional McDonald’s restaurant, then positioned the signs to be visible from key approaches. The finished space brings these decisions together in a carefully implemented Essential Ingredients 2.0 interior.
